The COME command is the most misused and abused command because it is used in so many different ways.

For a dog to truly WANT to come to you, it is your responsibility to be the pack leader. When you take the role as the pack leader, your dog will want to stay with you, follow you, and come to you any time you call.
The most common mistake is to say the command, COME, then not staying put for your dog to complete the command by sitting when she gets to you.
Making this mistake is not a detriment to training it is the AWARENESS of making that mistake and learning from it that is most important.
You should be working toward creating a lifestyle of praise. This means you have to speak and see what you want your dog to do, and then praise for those moments.
Most trainers have the misconception that the COME command is the most important command. The reason is because to recall your dog is something that most owners want their dog to do. When only concentrating on the commands, instead of working on behaviors, it is more important in the owner's view to get the dog to recall on command.
